Founded in 985 by Lady Wulfrun, Wolverhampton is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands. With a population of 236,400 it is the 13th most populous city in England.

Original growth in Wolverhampton focussed around the Woollen Trade before becoming home to a number of metal industries in the 16th Century. These days, employment is mainly in the service sector with the majority of people being employed in administration, education and health.

Culturally, Wolverhampton has a number of well known music venues, as well as two major theatres and a number of galleries and museums. The city also has a number of sports teams, including football team Wolverhampton Wanderers and speedway racers Wolverhampton Wolves.
